Montesquieu peace is the natural effect of trade . Smith and ricardo have argued that capitalist economic systems and free exchange of goods in an international market economy are the best guarantors of peace: yes. One would argue that trade does not generate economic advantage for both parties, dependency theory would go against this claim because consumer culture through the behest of trade proceed to take advantage of their current position. Anyone that questions it or rather disrupts this expropriation and extraction of resources for the wealthy north is obliterated. Military force goes hand in hand with economic advancement. It is true that trade, create dependence on one"s trading partner, but this trade is not symmetrical, it is asymmetrical in nature. Public opinion can also be swayed by the media, who might be in turn bought or pushed by political leaders or interest parties to state specific facts about a situation in order to entice and push for war.
