Developmental psychology is a perspective that is connected to all other areas on psychology. Developmental psychology focuses on the changes individuals experience during the lifespan. Much of this field of psychology focuses on early years because majority of changes occur during this time. However, developmental psychology applications are applicable to all ages because changing is never stopped but speed of change varies. Developmental psychologists use the experimental method much less often because it is extremely difficult to control all extraneous variables. For example: the acquisition of language does not occur in a vacuum. It is also hard to control whether a particular process affects another.
