Julie"s mother has been urged to seek help yet julie does not know where to turn. Lack of finances to pay for treatment & doesn"t know how to access work mental health plan (doesn"t want anyone to think she is crazy) Julie feels guilty and pessimistic about her condition (also ashamed & failed) Julie refuses help after over 100 therapists show up on yellow-page search. External: lack of funds to pay for the treatment. What we will discuss in this chapter . Data from canadian mental health and well-being survey suggests 8% of adults consulted with a professional. However, similar to julie"s case, one doesn"t always find nor complete appropriate treatment. 10% of population 15 or older reported symptoms consistent with anxiety, depression, bipolar or substance abuse. 22% reported they wanted help but could not get it.
