Irritability, and paradoxically (being anxious or depressed: persistently increased goal-directed activity or energy, rapid and incoherent speech = flight of ideas, duration of only 1 weeks. Less if it"s se(cid:448)e(cid:396)e e(cid:374)ough to (cid:396)e(cid:395)ui(cid:396)e hospitalizatio(cid:374: average duration: 2~6 months, hypomanic episode. Less severe mania episode that does not cause marked impairment in social or occupational function: need last only 4 days, contribute to several mood disorders but by itself not so problematic. Individual who has only manic episode may also be classified for bipolar disorder because most of time, manic episode turns into depression: new model view bipolar as an evolving condition, progressing to a chronic condition. Individual with recurrent major depression usually have a family history of depression. Subtype: pdd with pure dysthymic syndrome: in which patient with pdd does not met the requirement for mdd. Subtype: pdd with persistent major depressive episode: have mdd episodes for at least 2-year period.
