Ingroup = group that we identify ourselves with (everyone else is part of the outgroup) Beliefs about the characteristics of a group and its members unfair generalizations. Example: alien caught peeing outside then you think all aliens are nasty. Painting an entire group with the same brush. Negative behaviour towards someone based on their membership in a group. Example: kill off an entire group because they are different. Competing for something good (land, social goods, etc) Harassment of the outgroup: we"re strong and they"re sissys. This can be reversed by making the group members work together to achieve a superordinate goal. Easily overwhelmed by everything so you don"t think about everything deeply. Don"t encode people who you meet that go against your stereotype. Group on the island is divided and they fight to the death.
