Memory errors arise due to the connections that make them so easily accessible. Help: connections make it easier to locate information in memory. Hurt: connections can make it difficult to see where the remembered episode stops and other related knowledge begins. Intrusion errors: errors in which other knowledge intrudes into the remembered event. A themed prologue read before a story can provide a meaningful context and increase understanding, leading to higher amount of information recalled. However, the addition of a theme can also lead to intrusion errors: e. g. Nancy at the cocktail party with the theme of pregnancy. Although it is implied that her professor got her pregnant, it is never said. The participants remember their own understanding of the story based on the prologue theme. The words that are on the list are relatively easy to remember because they are already connected to one another through the common theme of sleep .
