By 1987 this focus had been shifted to include homeless persons in developed countries p. 9. Before the 1980s, people in developed countries did not know what it was like to be homeless. In 1960, a homeless man" was described as someone with few or no ties to family, who was without economic and social support and family home normally provides. Made a clear distinction between homeless and unhoused, as home refers to a social, psychological space. These homeless men often had very poor housing.
