Cities naturally grow and crime is concentrated in = (cid:498)zone of transition(cid:499) Area of the city that surrounded the central business district and contained the oldest housing in the city. Area is affordable for housing so it attracts people with little money such as immigrants and racial minorities. Seen as being in transition because people who lived there were transient, and housing was soon to be torn down to make way for business expansion. Associates criminal activity with areas in cities that are in turmoil or are socially disorganized.
