54 views1 pages

Document Summary

One solution is to look to the attitudes and actions of other people. Informational social influence is a type of conformity in which individuals use the attitudes or actions of those around them as cues to correcting their own behavior. These type of influence is characterized by the acceptance of information obtained from others as evidence about reality and based on a desire to make informed decisions. Therefore, to avoid looking as deviance in our surrounding, people tend to use the interpretation of others to deal with the situation or event. Further, the more the need to be accurate the more people need to use the cues of other to interpret their surroundings, and the more powerful the social influence would become. A simple example is when someone walks into a fancy restaurant, this person will be more likely using the behavior of others in order for the to behave the accurate way in such restaurant.
