Organizational behaviour is a field of study devoted to understanding, explaining, and ultimately improving the attitudes and behaviours of individuals and groups in organizations. Ob research findings are used by managers/consultants to see if they meet real world challenges. Strategic management: field of study devoted to exploring the product choices and industry characteristics that affect an organization"s profitability (e. g. a strategic management study might examine relationship between firm diversification and firm profitability). Theories and concepts in ob are drawn from many different disciplines: industrial, organizational and social psychology, sociology research, and economics. Many modern theories and concepts on how to best organize, coordinate and manage human work activities have their roots from classical management (stressed important of formal organization and its functioning). 2 major scholars in classical management: frederick taylor and max weber put heavy emphasis on specialization, coordination and efficiency.
