Insulate electrical aciviies and also increase speed of neuron informaion transmission. Myelinaion also determines relaive maturity of dif parts of the brain. First age at birth, and process coninues unil early adulthood. Frontal lobe-at age 20, some areas of brain sill maturing, paricularly the frontal lobe. One of the inal areas = dorsolateral prefontal cortex- control impulse, planning complex acions, forseeing consequences and working memory. Execuive funcions funcions involved in goal-directed behaviour, planning and problem solving. Late myelinaion may afect behaviour/experiences of an adolescent and an adult-trouble with planning,, risky behaviour, inhibiion and atenion. Execuive funcion-tasks which require execuive funcion are last ones humans master, remain diicult for most people. Young children have great diiculty with these tasks, adolescents do beter and adults perform best, though oten make mistakes too.
