PSYC 333 Chapter 3: WEEK 3 textbook notes
Document Summary
Week 3: pg 91-101 (genital anatomy and sexual response) Consists of blood vessels, fibrous tissue, and 3 distinct spongy tissue and no bone, just smooth muscle. Inside the penis: 3 spongy bodies. 1 smaller one at the bottom: corpus spongiosum it expands into the glans. Penis size: size preference varies across cultures, size cannot compare when in 2 different states. A flaccid penis may be very different in size but when all erect, they typically grow to the same size i. e. a shower will grow less than a grower will when erect. Angle: avg angle is only about 10 degrees above horizontal, a reduced angle is a sign of mild erectile dysfunction. Scrotum loose pouch of skin that contains the testes hangs below the base of the penis involuntary muscle that responds to temperature (contracts when cold to make the testes rise) Male reproductive glands (analogous to the ovaries in females) Secrete male sex hormones and produce sperm.
