Document Summary
Week 16 the first ways we learn about appropriate and inappropriate behaviour: young children learn appropriate and inappropriate behaviour when caregivers teach them. But the way that they teach them is very important. Parental demandingness: refers to the extent of the caregiver"s behavioural expectations for the child. Parental responsiveness: the amount of support the caregiver provides for the child and the extent to which he or she meets the child"s needs. Early in life, our parents or caregivers dominate our social world, and much of what we learn about how to interact with others comes from them. The social brain hypothesis is an idea that was put forth to explain the evolution of intelligence. The social brain hypothesis suggests that the reason for the evolutionary growth of the brain is to provide an advantage to social creatures over others of their species.
