Frontal lobe the front portion of the cerebral cortex, includes motor cortex and. Parietal lobe- behind the frontal lobe, above temporal lobe, contains somatosensory cortex. Occipital lobe- back of the brain, primary visual cortex. Temporal lobe- below frontal lobe, contains auditory cortex. Cerebellum receives sensory information, position of body parts knowing what parts of the body are doing. Thalamus near the centre of the brain, all sensory information is sent (except smell) to thalamus then regulates to the cerebral cortex. Hypothalamus- controls autonomic nervous system and many behaviours related to regulation and survival (eating, drinking, fighting, shivering, sweating) Corpus callosum large bundle of axons connects the cortex of the two cerebral hemispheres. Hippocampus- part of the limbic system, temporal lobe, plays roles in learning. Amygdala- part of the limbic system located in the temporal lobe, damage causes changes in emotional and aggressive behaviour.
