Document Summary
Extremely disciplined, principled, politically engaged scholar with a highly developed work ethic and a deep commitment to scholarship of the highest standard. Most of weber"s work can be grouped under 4 headings. Weber believed sociology involves the development of a comprehensive understanding of social action. Social life is the product of meaningful social action. Sociologists must strive to develop an interpretive understanding of the social world from the perspective of the human agents involved in it. Locate that meaningful action within the broader social framework within which it developed. Believed you cannot establish generalizations from the unique events of everyday life (based on the historical school) Weber argues that consciousness and the formation of human understanding of the social world cannot be reduced just to the economic base. Questions of method are complex, you need to explore them with great detail to clearly establish ones fundamental premises and demonstrate how the arguments that follow build from those premises.
