Juvenile delinquency is a range of things: offensive to respectable values, petty and more serious crime. Delinquent: urban male between 12 and 20, anti-social behaviour, membership of gang, history of trouble with authority and recidivism. Psychology: maternal deprivation, measures of intelligence and personality. In the past, studies of delinquent youth largely neglected questions of race and gender. Offence that goes into the public sphere, breaking laws to which legitimate punishments are attached by public authority. If it"s missing, then the offence is not a o o crime (kids/insane) Crime rates are socially constructed and leave out hidden or unreported crime. Society definition of crime is socially constructed and highly relative. Influenced by ideas of morality and o religious faith o organizational terms. Can be applied to breaking of principles and not necessarily the law; crimes of the state.
