No persons above the law, bound by the law, protected by the law & enforced equally. Canadian charter of rights and freedoms: law of land that guarantees fundamental freedoms, legal rights and quality rights for all people. Also, provides protection and fairness during legal proceedings. Criminal law: conduct so harmful to society that it is prohibited by statute and punished by government. One of the types of public law. Involves rules for police/judges such as procedures to make arrest, gathering/presenting evidence to court. Private law: regulates relationships between individuals other then state and used to resolve disputes between people.
