Vast majority of animals are raised in ifap. The amount of animals outnumbered americans by 7 to 1, 9 billion are slaughtered/year. Poultry and swine are confined in densely packed indoor facilities. Ifap: maximize the amount of meat, dairy and eggs produced in the shortest amount of time. Produces an enormous amount of food with minimal human labour. Incurs heavy costs to public health and ecosystems that are not reflected in the sales price. Increased availability, and affordability of animal products in u. s. food supply. Poultry, swine and cattle produce an estimated 350 million tons of waste annually. The waste is concentrated over a small are of land; to dispose, producers typically spread or spray the manure onto nearby agricultural land. Waste is more thought of manure because of nutrients helping crops grow. Waste is stored in lagoons, not treated with chemicals. Ifap produces so much waste becoming a pollution problem.
