Rural area: is any area that is not classified as an urban area and includes small towns and villages. Population density: number of people per unit of area living. Urban growth: rate of increase of an urban population. Better health care, family planning, and social services. Urban sprawl: the spreading of low-density housing and other forms of development around city centers. Problems: increase car usage, environmental impact grow. Relies on the conversion of natural areas and croplands to housing, commercial development, highways. Urban transportation: increased car usage due to urban sprawl. Drawbacks: air pollution, co2 emissions, traffic congestions.
