Hesiod in theogony - we know how to recount many falsehoods like real things, and we know how to proclaim truths when we wish. Contrast between two sorts of content and modes of speaking. Speech content - falsehoods like real things . Mytheomai - speech of mythos which was associated with truth. Legien - speech of logos which was associated with lies. Today, we understand this to be reversed. Eg. logos with truth; mythos with lies. Now loathsome strife gave birth to painful toil, forgetfulness and hunger, and pains bearing tears, combats and battles and murders and manslaughters, quarrels and falsehoods and logio and disputes. Logoi are joined with falsehoods , disputes , and quarrels . Contrasted with manly physical forms of conflict. Falsehoods and seductive logoi attributed to femininity, but not limited to women.
