42 views2 pages

Document Summary

I think the major problem that is occurring is that the employees are being judged by the halo effect which creates a huge issue. Although an employee can be achieving high performances in all aspects of their job, one poor performance can cause a poor rating. Secondly, since the rater"s tend to check off average rather than poor or excellent on their evaluation sheets, this avoids real evaluations which causes error of central tendency. Since the employees do not receive any feedback, they are not able to build or develop on their skills which does not benefit the employee or the company itself. Lastly, in certain incidents, rater"s use the leniency or strictness biases which creates very low productivity, and no stimulation for growth. It is for these reasons why i think there are problems the performance appraisal process. Question 2: i think there are problems with how the management pick the candidates.
