Human Resources Management – the leadership and management of people within an
organization using systems, methods, processes, and procedures that enable employees to
optimize their contribution to the organization and its goals.
Strategic Human Resources – Focus on 5 major groups of activities:
1. Planning Human Resources. E.g. determining supply and demand, facilitate
employment, training, job analysis.
2. Attracting Human Resources. E.g. Recruiting and selection process, have to
follow steps for both. Have to meet equal employment opportunity laws.
3. Placing, Developing, and Evaluating Human Resources. E.g. Orienting new
employees into the workplace, updating them on policies and procedures, placing
