Client/server computing: allows distribution of computing work in small series. Splits processing between clients and servers on a network and assigns functions to the machine that is most able to perform. Client: user point of entry, normally a desktop computer, workstation or laptop computer. Server: software application and physical computer where network software runs; powerful versions of personal computers. Multiple processors in a single computer box or server racks.
