Organization: groups of people who work interdependently toward some purpose, collective entities, requires level of communication / coordination / collaboration, members have a collective sense of purpose. Four perspectives : open systems , organizational learning , high- performance work practices, stakeholders. Perspective which holds that organizations depend on the external environment for resources, affect that environment through their output, and consist of internal subsystems that transform inputs to outputs. Views organizations as complex organisms that live within an external environment. Depends on the external environment for resources raw materials, applicants , nancial resources, information, equipment. External environment has rules and expectations i. e. laws / cultural norms that dictate how the organization should operate. Organizations receive feedback from external environment: organization- environment fit. Organizations , according to this perspective, are effective when they maintain a good t with their external environment. Fit exists when : organization"s inputs, processes, outputs are aligned with the needs/ expectations of the external environment.
