NUR 80A/B Chapter Notes - Chapter 11, 17, 18: Randomized Controlled Trial, Null Hypothesis, Nursing Assessment
Document Summary
Clinical trials are studies designed to assess the efeciveness of clinical intervenions. Those undertaken to test innovaive therapies are oten designed in a series of phases: Phase iii trial, which may also be called a randomized clinical trial (rct) Usually involves use of large and heterogeneous sample of subjects, frequently selected from muliple, geographically dispersed sites to ensure that indings aren"t unique to a single seing. Evaluaions are used to ind how well a program/treatment/policy works. Generally, the term evaluaion research is used when they"re trying to determine efeciveness of a rather complex program, rather than when they"re tesing a speciic enity: thus, not all clinical trials would be called evaluaions. Evaluaions oten try to answer broader quesions than simply whether an intervenion is more efecive. Textbook notes: process analysis (or an implementaion analysis) obtains descripive informaion about the process of implemening a new program or procedure and about its funcioning in actual operaion.
