Chapter 2: finding a common vocab - political concepts. Body politic: a set of individuals tied together in a political connection. Classify in diff ways b/c ppl form for many reasons creating different identities. Ex. geographical identity ( share a common territory will create political units as a means of protecting that place or regulate behaviour) Order: both actors and interactions w/in a political system are marked by regularity and stability w/ the imposition of accepted and enforced rules, structures and practices. Provides a degree of customary activities and predictability w/in society. Collection of rules, laws , norms, customs and conventions that delimit and maintain soc. Monarchy: form of government run by a single ruler who holds absolute power. Tyranny: governed by single ruler who exercises power for his own benefit rather than communities. Change in one part of a system means change in all of the parts of the system since they are interrelated.
