Document Summary

The paradox of memory refers to the fact that our memories can sometimes be really good or really bad. Hyperthymestic syndrome rare condition in which one"s autobiographical memory is extraordinarily good (aka hyperthymesia) Suggestive memory techniques procedures that encourage patients to recall memories that may or may not have taken place. Memory illusion false but subjectively compelling memory (very much like optical illusions that take use of our brain"s generally adaptive tendency) [symbol] representativeness heuristic. Our memories are far more reconstructive than reproductive. When we try to recall an event, we actively reconstruct our memories using the cues and information available to us. Observer memory is when we see ourselves as an outside observer would when recalling a memory. This provides evidence that memory can be reconstructive and not necessarily reproductive. Field memory is seeing the world through your visual field, just like it happened.
