Biological psychologists are the same as neuroscientists that study the brain and behaviour. Phineas gage"s personality changed due to the iron rod that blasted through his prefrontal cortex. This changed his personality due to the brain damage but also the traumatic near-death experience also had a part in shaping his new personality. Neurons nerve cells specialized for communication, the brain consists of 100 billion. Dendrites portions of neurons that receive signals. Axons portions of neurons that send signals. Synapse space between two connecting neurons through which messages are transmitted. Synaptic cleft space between two connecting neurons where neurotransmitters are released. Glia (glial) cells support cells in the nervous system that play roles in the formation of myelin and blood-brain barrier, respond to injury, and remove debris. Blood-brain barrier glial cells forming a fatty coating that prevents certain substances (such as large, highly charged, insoluble molecules) from entering the brain.
