Myocardial infarction: refers to the acute condition in which the blood supply to part of the heart muscle ( the myocardium) is severely reduced or blocked. 2: these people are at a higher rate of subsequently suffering from a stroke. Heart disease is the number one killer in the us, resulting in 25% of all deaths in the year 2007. Heart and cerebrovascular disease accounted for 35% of all deaths in the us. A sedentary( in active) lifestyle is the first major risk factor for heart disease.
