People age differently depending on where and when they live, who they interact with, and what resources they have. The concept of identity is defined as a combination of how people view themselves biologically, psychologically, and socially. Continuity principle: changes that people experience in later life build on experiences in their earlier years. Always consider years preceding the later years of life. You know you"re the same person you always were, despite getting older . You don"t realize that when people meet you for the first time they see you as you are presently, not how you used to be or what you used to be like. This is important when treating older adults because they shouldn"t be treated as older adults but instead the people they always were.
