Charles goring (the english convict,1913) who made elaborate comparisons and found insigni cant statistical differences. Evolution of biology and psychology: these early attempts may have seemed primitive but they occurred largely before a well known scientist and theory fell upon the scienti c community in conjunction with theory on genetics and psychiatry. Up until 1950s all this work had been done as correlational research, no systematic, longitudinal studies had been done - but the idea of relating biology to personality had begun. Dif cult babies are not suited for semi-loud, dynamic parental environments. Hypotheses: infants inherit differences in biological functioning that lead them to be more or less reactive to novelty and that these inherited differences tend to be stable during development.
