Ssh 105 chapter 1: the nature and value of critical thinking. There is a basic essence or core of critical thinking that remains the same across all domains, from astrology to philosophy to chemistry. Critical thinking is needed whenever we reason about what to believe or what to do. Critical thinking is important because it helps one get to the right answer/solution. Moreover, it allows one to make up their own mind, allowing them to be masters of their own lives and giving them freedom. Critical thinking is reasonable, reflective thinking that is aimed at.
