Perception: the process by which individuals organize and interpret their impressions in order to give meaning to their environment. Perception does not have to be true. People"s behavior is based on their perception of what reality is, not on reality itself. Perception influence how we interact with and judge other people. Perception matter at each stage of your career. Supervisors like subordinates who are more similar to them. Collaborations with co-workers: imitating behaviour in teams. Attribution theory: explains ways we judge people differently, depending on the meaning we attribute to a given behaviour. Internal attribution: behavior is due to motivation/ability of the person rather than situation/fate. External attribution: behavior is believed to be a result of outside causes. Distinctiveness (does this person do this in other situations?) is this unusual behaviour for this person when comparing to how he behaves in other situations. Consensus (do other people do this as well?) Consistency (does the person do this all the time?)
