2.) When does the prenatal stage end and begin?
Starts 9 months b4 birth when 200 million sperm make the journey from a

➔ Many sperm have defects, some get stuck in the in a traffic jam (cuz so
many going in the same direction), some make the wrong turn (end up
in a fallopian tube that that does not have an egg)
➔ ABOUT 200/200 MILLION MAKE it to the correct fallopian tube
➔ HOWEVE‘ fo these 200 the fist oe to peetate the eggs oatig
will release a chemical which will seal the coating keeping all the rest of
the sperm from entering
4.) Once the sperm enters the egg what happens?
The sperm will shed its tail and fertilize the egg

5.) So when exactly does the prenatal development begin?
So once the sperm has fertilized the egg about 12 hours later the egg will merge
with the nuclei of the sperm

A fertilized egg that contains chromosomes from both an egg and a sperm

The gender of the person cuz xx = female and xy= male
10.) Germinal stage:
➔ The two week period that begins at conception
➔ When the zygote divides from 1 cell to 2, to 4, to 8 etc.
➔ The zygote migrates back down the fallopian tube and implants itself on
the uterus wall
11.) Why is the germinal stage difficult for the zygote to complete its
journey?
Cuz the egg may implant itself on an inhospitable part of the uterus
12.) Embryo/embryonic stage:
➔ When a zygote successfully implants itself on the uterine wall
➔ A period that lasts from the 2nd week to the 8th week
➔ Embryo continues to divide
➔ Embryo already has a beating heart, arms, legs & begins producing
hormones
