Document Summary

It usually causes some distortion of body, change in velocity or both. Weight: force of gravity acting on a body. Weight depends on 2 things: 1. its mass 2. its location. Friction: force of resistance between two bodies/substances in physical contact. Two types of friction: static and kinetic. Static friction: the friction that"s occurring when there is no force acting on an object. Static friction occurs when an object first starts to move. Kinetic friction: relative motion between 2 substances in motion. Law #1: an object will remain at rest or in motion at constant velocity until it"s. Newton"s first law of motion acted upon by an external force. External force: one cause by some agent outside the object/ the system. Example of an external force is weight because its caused by something outside of the object (earth) Net force: the vector sum of external forces acting on a body.
