Management- the process of administering and coordinating resources effectively and efficiently in an effort to achieve the organization"s goals. Efficiency - using the fewest input (cost) to produce a given level of output. Effectiveness - the pursuit and achievement of goals that are appropriate for an organization. Henry mintzberg- managers engaged in a variety of unpatterned short duration activities and constant reflection suggested that there is little time for systematic reflection. He offered a classification of the various broad roles that managers play : interpersonal roles, informational roles and decision roles. Interpersonal roles- includes managerial tasks manager"s formal authority base and involves relationships with either organizational members or external parties. So for example marketing managers provides informations about consumer preference to the engineering department. He had a authoritarian model of management with 100 employees reporting to him. He streamlined the number of project after he came back to become ceo in 1997.
