Governor general - the holder of executive authority in canada"s government. It is passive role and usually follows prime minister"s advice but signature is required to become law. Prime minister - the head of the canadian government and is assisted by the prime minister"s office and privy council. Prime minister"s office assists pm with daily activities. Privy council serves as an important policy-advising agency. Parliament - consists of house of common and senate. A bill has to pass the house of commons and then the senate and is presented to governor general to be signed and approved. Cabinet - members of parliament who are appointed to oversee an assigned government ministry or department. Judiciary - federal judiciary represent the court system and has 3 federal courts: tax court of. Canada (lower), the federal court of canada and the supreme court of canada (highest).
