Personality: a disincive and relaively stable patern of behavior, thoughts, moives, and emoions that characterize an individual. Trait: a characterisic of an individual, describing a habitual way of behaving, thinking, or feeling. First psychodynamic theory of personality was by sigmund freud. Psychoanalysis: a theory of personality and a method of psychotherapy developed by sigmund freud; it emphasizes unconscious moives and conlicts. Psychodynamic theories: theories that explain behavior and personality in terms of unconscious energy dynamics within the individual. Freud theory is considered psychodynamic because it emphasizes the movement of psychological energy within the person, in the form of atachments, conlicts, and moivaions. Dynamics in terms of psychology does not mean powerful but instead refers to the moion and balance of systems under the acion of external and internal forces. Freud believes the unconscious reveals itself in art, dreams, jokes, apparent incidents, and slips of the tongue (freudian slips)
