Litigation : the system of resolving disputes in court. Allows a single person or small group of people to sue on behalf of a larger group of claimants. Benefits : allows small individuals to take on a larger organization, cost effective, threat of class action can curtain big business behaviour. Criteria for this class action to happen: common issues. There must be a common issue amongst the various members of the class: representative plaintiff. The class must demonstrate a working plan that benefits everyone in the class and not hurt them. They must represent all individuals" interests: notification. To all members of the class: preferable procedure. The court must believe that class action is the recommended procedure: certification.
