Heteronormativity heterosexuals are more privileged and valued than other sexual orientation: creates homophobia. Social construction: a framework for thinking about gender norms. Biological determinism explains social behavior as a product of human biology. Preferred perspective is social constructionism: critique of biological determinism, emerged from cross-cultural and historical variations in what counts as normal gender roles.
