Many terms and concepts are introduced in the chapter, which is an introduction to the whole field of primate behavioral ecology research. Many of these terms and concepts are covered in more detail later in the book and lectures. For example, table 1. 2 will be discussed again later in the lectures on primate social groups, and conservation. Applications are discussed in much greater detail in the last week of class and the last chapter of the book. Throughout the book, refer back to the overview of the chapter that is provided on the first page. This will help you to remember what you are supposed to be focusing on in this section. This chapter starts with a discussion of 3 reasons that primates are chosen as study subjects. Strier then describes her own biases in the book. These two approaches are discussed in more detail later in the chapter.
