Torah is the first part of the hebrew bible. Northern kingdom known as israel was taken over by assyrians in 722: 586 bce - the southern part, jeddah, was captured by babylonian and the first temple was destroyed, zoroastrianism. It contributed to the concept of angels, satan, resurrection of the dead and final judgment: zoroastrianism was the religion of the persians. Tradition developed by rabbis who arose from pharisees to let people know of the rules of torah. Had three rules: fate tied closely to torah, torah has supplementary laws, written torch (bible) and oral torah. It recognized the influence of both good and evil inclination in the human struggles: things went from bad to worse, covenant with god, land in turn for obeying his command. Key festivals: passover, celebrate liberation from egypt. Oppression, exile and wandering: jesus was crucified, rosh hashanah, repentance and self-examination to celebrate new jewish year, october or september, yom kippur, day of atonement, holiest day.
