Manager"s need both to achieve the organization"s goals. Managers and leaders are not inherently the same. Leadership requires a vision of the future and developing strategies to reach it. Planning - process of deciding what needs to be done to achieve organizational objectives (when, how and by whom it should be done) Implement and activate specific objectives - create standards, methods, procedures and policies. Vision statement - concise picture of the company"s future direction in terms of its values and purpose - used to guide and inspire. Mission - organization"s purpose and reason for existing; its long-term goals.
