Document Summary

8. 5 types of vesicle transport and their funcions. The biosyntheic pathway of a eukaryoic cell consists of a series of disinct membrane-bound organelles that funcion in the synthesis, modiicaion and delivery of soluble and membrane proteins to their appropriate desinaion in the cell. Protein coats have at least 2 disinct funcions: they act as a mechanical device that causes the membrane to curve and form a budding vesicle, provide a mechanism for selecing the components to be carried by the vesicle. Selected components include: cargo consising of secretory, lysosomal and membrane proteins to be transported, the machinery required to target and dock the vesicle to the correct acceptor membrane. Three best studied coated vesicles: copii-coated vesicles move materials from the er forward to the ergic and golgi. Copii-coated vesicles: transporing cargo from the er to the golgi complex. Copi-coated vesicles: transporing escaped proteins back to the er.
