Male accessory sex organs: the seminiferous tubules are connected at both ends to rete testis, spermatozoa and secretions move to rete testis, drained via efferent ductules into epididymis, spermatozoa enter head of epididymis and leave via tail of epididymis. Male fertility: approx. ejaculation volume = 1 to 5 ml. 45% to 80% of semen = fluid from seminal vesicles. 15% to 30% of semen = fluid from prostate. 60 to 150 million sperm per ejaculate: decreased fertility, oligospermia, below 20 million sperm per ml, anything below 50 million sperm per ml is a cause for concern in fertility, heat from sauna or hot tub, pharm. Inflammatory reactions occur causing immune system to kill sperm: spermatozoa are phagocytosed and destroyed. 70% of men with vasectomies develop antisperm antibodies: no autoimmune damage to testes, decreases chance or reversing a vasectomy and regaining fertility. Phagocytosed engulfing the sperm by other cells like it"s a foreign body.
