Decrease in jan/feb, reach seasonal low in feb/mar. Colony would have about 10000 bees in low season. Increases rapidly in apr, may, june, peak in june. Weaker colonies have lower number or reach peak later. Nectar flow and blooming season have great influences during summer. May show increase in number in early fall if nectar increases. Cycle dependent on wet and dry seasons. Worker brood in lowest in jan, no drone and queens raised. Queens increases output according to worker behaviour (clean cells for her) Reaches 1500 eggs/day, nearly her own body weight. May have early peak followed by a dip or second peak in early fall (new pollen sources) Decreases with decrease of food resources and cold weather. Numbers vary depending on resources, genetics, and number of cells. Begins in spring when food becomes available. May be produced in early fall is food increases. Varies with amount of drone brood reared.
