Definition of behavioral disorders: students with behavioral, mental, and emotional disorders are categorized as having an emotional disturbance. Adhd: caused by a deficiency, imbalance, or inefficiency in brain chemicals that affect certain brain regions. Diagnosing adhd: a persistent pattern of inattention and/or hyperactivity-impulsivity that interferes with functioning or development, as characterized by (1) and/or (2): Adhd medication: stimulant medications (ie ritalin) have shown to be the most effective. Increases availability of norepinephrine which is thought to be the brains impulse control. What fa(cid:272)tors co(cid:374)tri(cid:271)uted to li(cid:374)dsey"s beha(cid:448)ioral disorder: 25% of close relatives of adhd children also have adhd, studies of twins also shown that a strong genetic influence exists in the disorder. Combination of adhd and poor emotional control runs in families: siblings of individuals with both adhd and deficient emotional self-regulation had a significant greater risk of having both conditions than siblings of those with adhd alone.
