Document Summary

Posiive reinforcer: is an event that, when immediately following a behavior causes the behavior to increase in frequency (synonymous with the world reward) Once an event has been determined to funcion as a posiive reinforcement for a paricular individual in a paricular situaion, that event can be used to increase other behaviors of that individual in other situaions. Operant behaviors (or responses): behaviors that operate on the environment. Operant behaviors that are followed by posiive reinforces are likely to increase, whereas those followed by punishers are decreased. Posiive reinforcers are events that increase a response when they are introduced or added following the response. It is helpful for a client to ill out a reinforcement quesionnaire to see what would work best for them. Conduct a preference assessment: it is oten quite efecive to allow an individual to show among a number of available reinforcers (e. g. a tray with all your favorite things, pick one, sill reinforces behavior)
