Five identifiable trends driving csr: affluence, sustainability, globalization. Affluence: communications, brands, the more affluent the country is, the more csr takes a foothold, less-developed countries have less choice and focus more on utility, ex. Globalization: global companies complicate business greatly due to differing laws, regulations, and norms, only the largest companies can use globalization as a route for their csr strategy to take. The 3 phases of stakeholder access to information: a domestic lens is not the only viewpoint a company should take when tackling csr issues. The 2 phases of globalization: empowered corporations, empowered stakeholders, empowered individuals, empowered ngos, empowered media, as companies become more globalized and information is easier to access, corporations lose more and more control over that communication.
