PATH 3610 Chapter Notes - Chapter 5: Zinc Deficiency, Granuloma, Blunt Trauma
Document Summary
Resolution: refers to the return to normal which will follow an uncomplicated acute inflammation. o o. The tissue is restored to its original state, prior to the injury. If tissue damage was more extensive, some degree of regeneration (the replacement of necrotic parenchymal cells by new parenchymal cells of the same type), scarring, or a combination of the two may result from acute inflammation. Regeneration: when parenchymal cells are lost, the adjacent surviving cells may undergo division to replace them o. The extent of regeneration depends on the ability of that cell type to divide, the numbers of surviving cells, and whether or not these is a surviving connective tissue framework o. The regenerative capacity of different cell types vary: Labile cells are those which normally divide through life to replace cells which are normally being lost. These cells have a short intermitotic (resting) phase. Examples include: epithelial cells of the skin and mucosal surfaces.
